Balasubramainan Venkatraman is a member of the Web Portal Development and Deployment Group at UIC. Prior to joining the University Informatics Centre he was a web application architect and programmer in a web startup firm. He has worked with various dot com firms as a freelancer apart from serving as a teaching associate in School of Computer Science Engineering, Bharathidasan University.
He has 4+ years of design and development experience in mission critical web-centric applications for small and medium enterprises (SME) using Java and Open Source technologies. He has experience particularly in application design, development, data modeling, cross-browser UI design, content management, navigation fluxes, translating business requirements to technical specifications and project management.
He earned his M.Sc., Computer Science and M. Phil., Computer Science degrees from Bharathidasan University. He also holds an MBA in Information Systems. His areas of interest are Computational Complexity, Semantic Web and Web Services.
