  Title 'SCHOOLGIS' (Mapping of Schools for Better School Educational Planning and Management Using GIS and GPS for Tamil Nadu State)

  Summary Aimed at developing Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS), all the hamlets, wards, schools and educational offices of entire state of Tamil Nadu were captured through rigorous Global Positioning System (GPS) survey. There are as many as 83,600 hamlets and wards and 53,449 schools and educational offices were captured covering 31 districts of Tamil Nadu state. School Upgradation Plan and identifying gap for starting new Primary School in the state are done through Geographic Information System (GIS). This project is jointly executed by both Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai for a total budget outlay of Rs.103.54 Lakhs in which Centre for Geographic Information Technologies (CGIT), Bharathidasan University has received Rs. 52.25 Lakhs.

  Title 'HILARIS' (Hill Area Resource Information System Using Geographic Information Technologies - A Spatial Decision Support System to Udhagamandalam District, The Nilgiris)

  Summary Being hilly area, Udhagamandalam District of The Nilgiris requires 3D GIS data processing environment for real time planning and hence Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) is going to be developed in this project. Complete rural features such as Government building, Culvert, Bridge and other infrastructures are captured through rigorous Global Positioning System (GPS) Survey. Further, the outcome of the project as Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) will be made available on web environment for the district administration to take day-to-day decisions across the table within no time.

  Summary Rationalization of Polling Station and reorganization of Part and Section was the main aim of the study. Using GIS and GPS, needy area for additional Polling Stations would be identified and expected to be implemented for future election process in Tamil Nadu.
