About the Centre
Coastal environments are ecologically sensitive and environmentally fragile and needs careful studies for its sustainable development. In addition, coastal areas are currently playing a very important role in ecological and industrial development of many countries, which causes number of ecological and environmental problems. Hence, serious attention and studies should be taken to mitigate various environmental problems and manage the coastal environment. Again in this backdrop, the Centre for Disaster Management and Coastal Research was created in Bharathidasan University in the year 2019 to carryout research, create awareness to public, provide scientific solutions and to suggest mitigation and management options. The major aim of the centre is to provide scientific knowledge and solutions for minimizing various coastal zone problems in a sustainable way.
