With the combined effort of UGC ,Government of Tamilnadu and Bharathidasan University, Bharathidasan University Model College (co-education) was started at Vedaranyam - 614810 on 25 th July 2011, The college is mainly meant for rural area and educational backward students . It was started with strength of 299 students enrolled in 5 courses with 10 teaching and 3 non-teaching staff, Now total strength of 675 students in 5 courses with 16 teaching and 3 non-teaching staff under its roof.
Now the college is functioning in Kasturibai Gandhi Kanya Gurukulam, Higher secondary School campus, Vedaranyam - 614810.
