The Department is recognised and funded by UGC to conduct a Post Graduate Diploma in Geomatics, under Innovative Programme Scheme (Period 2005-2010). The UGC has also identified this Department under Special Assistance Programme (SAP) - Departmental Research Support (DRS - I) to concentrate its research in the frontier areas like Climatic Change, Terrain Analysis and Disaster Studies (Period 2009-2014).
