Department of Marine Science

The Department of Marine Science, functioning with the aim of quality teaching and research in Oceanography and its importance with reference to latest developments on global scenario. The Biogeochemical cycles in marine environment, Land-Ocean interactions, Transformation of pollutants through river basin to Ocean, Coastal Zone Management and Marine Biotechnology are the thrust area of research. The department offers PG level course on Marine Science as well as M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. Recently UGC has chosen this department by providing financial assistance of Rs.30.00 lakhs to higher studies in the field of Coastal Zone Management under Innovative Programme scheme. The Department of Marine Science has thus developed a strong expertise in various aspects of Ocean science. The Department aims on state of art laboratory facilities with international standard and exchange of global scientific knowledge.
