Documentation of newspaper clippings


Innovative and unique activities undertaken by the Department invited the mass media, particularly the printing press to disseminate and transmit the information related to the various programmes. The press information, interpretation and appreciations, are given in separate record. Also, the students periodically gather and document the newspapers cuttings of important information, important decision, land mark judgement, data analysis, articles, events relating to women issues faced in day to day life, the complex issues in the family, society etc.


Annual Reports


Annual and Progress Report 2004-05, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-2009 have been brought out reporting all the activities of the Centre under nine heads as per UGC prescriptions.




Dissemination


Activities of the Centre are informed to the Print Media to disseminate the information to the public. Press releases of various activities of the Centre are given well in advance to facilitate sufficient members to participate. Women Entrepreneurship Training on herbal plant cultivation, opportunities for SHG women in University Campus, Post Graduate Programme in Women’s Studies, Innovative teaching practices, SHG Fair, National Seminar and Women’s Day celebrations offered by the Centre were disseminated to the public sufficiently through print media which facilitated the participants of the various programme to make use of the opportunities of the Centre.


Transmission


Outcome of the research, training and extension activities of the Centre are either covered or sent to print media which help to transmit the contributions of each activity to the public.Thanks to Media for disseminating and transmitting such information which facilitated enquiries from various government departments implementing development programmes, say District Rural Development Agencies, Mahalir Thittam, Education Departments, NGOs, CBOs from Madurai, Tuticorin, Pudukottai, Tiruchirapalli, Education Department Tiruchirapalli, Schools, Colleges, SHGs, other University Departments, Extension Departments, etc. to initiate collaborative work. In a way such enquiries and invitation for collaboration encouraged the Centre to expand its territories of intervention, areas of research etc.
