University Library
As Dr.S.R.Renganathan Father of Indian Librarianship mentioned in his five laws of library Science Library is a Growing Organism and Bharathidasan University Library is not an exception to this rule. With the grants from the UGC and annual budgetary provisions of the University, the Library has builds up its collection representing various disciplines of all levels of its users. The Library also receives reading materials as gifts from individuals and institutions, including international missions. Its serial holdings and valuable reference works serve very much the current and authentic information needs of the academics and researchers.
In the year 1997, A separate magnificent and majestic Library building with six massive white columns and two artistically sculptured Yalis at the entrance, constructed at the cost of above Rs.1 Crore was ceremoniously inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister for Education Dr.K.Anbazhan on 29-05-1997. In the year 2006 New Annex as first floor has been constructed which accommodate Digital Library with provision of access to 100 users and a separate journal section and Thesis section with seating capacity of 150 users. The annex also is having Audio Visual facility which give access to CDs, DVDs and Cassettes.
Working Hours - The Library opens from 8-00 A.M. to 8-00 P.M. in 365 days throughout the year
Facilities
Library provides the following conventional and modern information services to its users clintile. Users of the Library consists of our own faculty, students, research scholars. In addition the Library also gives reference access to the faculty, research scholars & Students of affiliated constituent colleges, the General Public, and Academic Students visited from other parts.
The Library is fully automated with Bar-Coding and OPAC facility. Barcoded photo identity cards have been issued to the members. 20 computers with internet and intranet access for users.
