Centre for Youth Development and Studies



The CYDS was established in our university in the month of February 2003 with a specific aim to supply necessary academic inputs to the student community of the colleges and departments coming within the purview of Bharathidasan University.

Since then the CYDS has carried out the following activities:

Alumni Association: CYDS collected address of the alumni from various departments in the university, contacted the alumni and organized a meeting for them on 11.3.2003, wherein election was conducted for electing the office bearers of the Alumni Association.

Workshop on Computer Literacy for Rural Youth was organized on18.3.2003

Career Guidance and Counselling Session on 21.3.03 was organized for the college students.

BARDEX 2003: A five-day exhibition on educational and employment opportunities to the students during 27-31 May 2003. More than 50 colleges, banks, employment offices, voluntary agencies participated and more than 4000 students had visited and signed in the register put for the purpose.

Reach the Peak programme [26.12.2003 to 11.1.2004] was organized by the CYDS. For this, students selection and training programmes were organised on 7.11.2003, 14.11.2003, 22.1.2003, Personal Interview on 29.11.2003. Two-day workshop for the selected students was organized during 14 &15, Dec. 2003.

Intercollegiate competitions were organized during January 2004 and results were published on 19.2.2004 [The Hindu, P.3], prizes and certificates were distributed on 16.3.2004.

On 5.3.2004 Workshop on “Employment Opportunities” was organized jointly with District Employment Office at Kurinji College of Arts and Science, Tiruchirapalli.

One day workshop for the college students is also organized on 16.3.2004. The speakers would be Dr.M.Lakshmanan, Head of the Department of Physics and Dr.V.Ayothi, Professor of English.

Regular meetings of the Student Study Circle are conducted on all working Mondays.
