About the Centre

The University Informatics Centre manages Bharathidasan University’s central technology infrastructure and provides IT and IT-enabled services and facilities to support the educational and research goals of the University. The Centre manages the websites, cloud-based email services, wired and wireless networks, University-wide ERP applications, servers, databases and surveillance cameras.

Facilities

Computer Centre

Central Computing Facility for the University Students.

The UIC has a central computing centre for supporting the academic, research, and general computer needs of the students, faculty, and employees. The centre offers practical courses, orientation programmes, and hands-on training sessions in addition to reading research papers and doing general browsing. The Computing Centre has 110 computers and is open every day from 8 AM to 8 PM, barring national holidays. The lab is equipped with the essential software tools, IP security cameras, an audio system, and a smart board for teaching and demonstration.

Video Conferencing Studio

A Studio cum Smart Class Room for Online Events and Digital Collaborations

Collaboration and communication have crossed traditional barriers in the current digital era. To foster cross-cultural exchange and knowledge in the digital era, Bharathidasan University has embraced this digital revolution by setting up a cutting-edge video conferencing studio that is revolutionising how students, teachers, and staff communicate and engage with the outside world. It exemplifies how technology can be harnessed to enhance education, research, and global engagement.

The Video Conferencing Studio, with its state-of-the-art hardware and software, it serves as a focal point for seamless remote communication. The studio is more than just a facility with displays and cameras; it serves as a hub for international communication and the exchange of ideas.

The studio is used for Webinars, Online Lectures, Skill Development Training Programmes, Ph.D. Viva-Voce Examinations (online), Refersher / Orientation Programmes, and Virtual Conferences by University Departments and Administrative Offices.

High Performance Computing Facility

For computationally intensive problems

The High Performance Computing facility at Bharathidasan University has been installed to provide software resources and services to solve computationally-intensive research problems. This central facility has been established under the Department of Science and Technology's DST-PURSE (Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence) scheme at a cost of Rs. 1.3 crores for the benefit of faculty and research scholars of the University.
