March 26, 2025 - Cyber Security Conclave
On March 26, 2025, the University Informatics Centre and the Department of Computer Science of Bharathidasan University jointly hosted the "Cyber Security Conclave" in the University’s Convocation Hall. The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tiruchirappalli, Dr. V. Varun Kumar IPS, gave an insightful special guest speech. The speech had a significant impact and gave the audience insightful viewpoints on how cyber security is evolving. More than 700 students from different departments along with faculty members attended the event and took part in the interaction session with the Chief Guest.
The Vice-Chancellor Committee Members Dr. V. Rajesh Kannan and Dr. R. Sakthi Krishnan delivered the presidential address. In his Key Note address on Cyber Security, Dr. Gopinath Ganapathy, Director of the University Informatics Centre, emphasized the significance of raising awareness of cyber security among the general public and academic community in order to fortify our cyber defenses and promote a more secure digital future. Dr. B. Jeyapragash, the Controller of the Examinations of Bharathidasan University introduced the Chief Guest to the august gathering. Dr. K. Emmanuvel Rajan, Dean of Science, Engineering & Technology greeted everyone with a welcome address and V. Balasubramanian of the University Informatics Centre gave the vote of thanks.

December 09-14, 2024 - Naan Mudhalvan Faculty Dev. Programme for Computer Science and Information Technology Faculty (Even Semester - Phase I)
Bharathidasan University organised a six-day hands-on training programme entitled "Google Cloud Computing" in the University Informatics Centre’s Computing Laboratory from December 09, 2024, to December 14, 2024, for the faculty members of the Bharathidasan University Affiliated Colleges as part of the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, a massive up skilling initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Thiru. R. Manimaran and Thiru. V. Balasubramanian of the University Informatics Centre coordinated the programme. 152 Faculty members participated in the event held at the University Informatics Centre.
November 27, 2024 - Launch of Faculty Portal for the University Faculty
In order to enable a variety of digital services, including online profile updates, IT support requests, e-content uploads, on-duty submissions, and more, the University Informatics Centre created an exclusive Faculty Portal for the University faculty on November 27, 2024. In the near future, the portal will give faculty members access to other self-service features including pay-roll docs and pay-drawn data.
November 12, 2024 – Inauguration of the Help Desk facility with Online Support
As per directive of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru.M K. Stalin to establish "Help Desk" in all educational institutions for the benefit of students, research scholars, parents and the general public to easily get details of Degree Programmes, Research Programmes, Guidelines for admission to higher education programmes, etc., “Help Desk” was established in Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. As per Government letter No:2132/H2/2024-1 dated 07-11-2024, the Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu and Pro-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Dr. Govi. Chezhiaan, Inaugurated the Help Desk at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli on 12th November 2024, Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The University Informatics Center has implemented an Online Help Desk application to supplement this service with an online mechanism that gives students, researchers, parents, and the general public comprehensive information about the different services the university offers. Additionally, the portal makes it easier to file grievances online with the relevant authorities.
October 2024, - Web/Mobile responsive application for the 39th Convocation of Bharathidasan University
The University Informatics Centre developed a responsive web/mobile application for the 39th Convocation of Bharathidasan University, which took place on October 29, 2024, to help participants access vital information like their visitor pass, online admit card with photo, seating arrangement details, etc. To assist participants and security staff with information, an ad hoc helpdesk was set up close to the convocation hall. The event was live streamed on the University's official YouTube channel, BDUONLINE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1b-XlgtHjo) and as on November 2024, the event had received over 8,000 views.
September 09-13, 2024 - Student Induction Programme (2024-2025)
The goal of the student induction programme is to assist new students in settling in and becoming comfortable in their surroundings, to introduce them to the institution's ethos and culture, to assist them in forming relationships with other students and faculty members, and to expose them to a sense of greater purpose and self-exploration. The incumbents are introduced to the institutional policies, procedures, practises, culture, and values at the beginning of the induction. The Academic Year 2024-2025 Student Induction Programme took place from September 09, 2024, to September 13, 2024. Over 900 students visited the University Informatics Centre over the course of these five days to learn more about the online student support services, computing resources, WiFi, and other digital services.

Bharathidasan University organised a five-day hands-on training programme entitled "Foundations of Coding using Python (INFOSYS)" in the University Informatics Centre from July 01, 2024, to July 05, 2024, for the faculty members of the Bharathidasan University Affiliated Colleges as part of the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, a massive up skilling initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Dr. C. Kubendran, Assistant Professor, Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy and Thiru. R. Manimaran of the University Informatics Centre coordinated the programme. 110 Faculty members participated in the event held at the Computer Centre of the University Informatics Centre.

June 25, 2024 Lauch of the Integrated Data Management Portal for the University
The foundation of any public university’s digital infrastructure is an integrated data centre. The data centre (physical or virtual) offers a comprehensive and consolidated data repository which facilitates the academic, research, financial and administrative data management, data analysis, and accessibility more effective. Based on the recommendations of the Planning Board, the BDU Data Centre application has been deployed using our University’s existing IT infrastructure for catering to the data requirements of the University’s administration and other apex bodies from June 2024 onwards. This virtual centre/application supports to better decision making and to streamline administrative procedures. It also provides key insights pertaining to research and financial initiatives especially. This pilot application has been developed by the Student Interns of the Department of Computer Science of BDU under the mentorship of Director of the University Informatics Centre and the Director of IQAC. The pilot application will have BI (Business Intelligence), Visualization and Predictive Analysis components in its next version in May 2025.
June 24-29, 2024 Naan Mudhalvan Faculty Dev. Programme for History, Geography, Sociology, Social Work, Political Administration and Fashion Technology Faculty (Odd Semester - Phase II)
As part of the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, a massive upskilling initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Bharathidasan University organized a five-day hands-on training program entitled "Digital Marketing (SCOPIK)" for the faculty members of the Bharathidasan University Affiliated Colleges in the University Informatics Center from June 24, 2024 to June 29, 2024. Thiru. R. Manimaran of the University Informatics Center and Dr. C. Kubendran, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, oversaw the program. The event, which took place in the University Informatics Center's Computer Center, attracted 120 faculty members.
June 24-29, 2024 Naan Mudhalvan Faculty Dev. Programme for Botany, Food Science and Nutirion Faculty (Odd Semester - Phase II)
As part of the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, a massive upskilling initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Bharathidasan University organized a five-day hands-on training program entitled "Organic Food Production Techniques (Rare Minds)" for the faculty members of the Bharathidasan University Affiliated Colleges from June 24, 2024, to June 29, 2024, in the University Informatics Center. The program was directed by Thiru. R. Manimaran of the University Informatics Center and Dr. R. Balasubramani, a professor in the Department of Library and Information Science. The event, which took place in the University Informatics Center's Video Conferencing Studio, attracted 35 faculty members.
June 18-23, 2024 Naan Mudhalvan Faculty Dev. Programme for Computer Science and Information Technology Faculty (Odd Semester - Phase I)
As part of the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, a massive upskilling initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Bharathidasan University organized a five-day hands-on training program entitled "Generative AI" in the University Informatics Centre from June 18, 2024 to June 23, 2024 for the faculty members of the Bharathidasan University Affiliated Colleges. The initiative was directed by Thiru. V. Balasubramanian and Dr. M. Balamurgan from the University Informatics Center. There were 172 faculty members present for the function.
June 07, 2024 Integrated Payment Gateway Platform for the First Year Students from the Academic Year 2024-2025
For first-year students who were admitted to university departments starting in the academic year 2024–2025, the University Informatics Center introduced an integrated payment gateway application. The main goal of this project is to provide a safe online payment gateway so that students may easily pay for their first semester's tuition and other associated costs. Since the project offers a comprehensive and streamlined view of the account information and straightforward processes for creating receipts, every department used the system.
March 13, 2024 - India's Teachade-Chips for Viksit Bharat, The Hon'ble Prime Minister's Address - Live Streaming
India’s Techade-Chips for Viksit Bharat Programme started at Bharathidasan University by 9.30 am. The vision and purpose of India's Techade-Chips for Viksit Bharat have been presented to the students assembled at the University Informatics Centre's Video Conferencing Studio by our Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. M. Selvam. He outlined the steps taken by our Prime Minister to significantly advance our country in all spheres, and Dr. K. Jeganathan, FASCh, Professor of Physics at Bharathidasan University, gave a special lecture on "Microchips". The India's Techade-Chips for Viksit Bharat programme was then broadcast LIVE on both of our university's campuses starting at 10.30 am, and 440 students from the STEM stream took part and learned. The programme was organised by Thiru. B. Jeyapragash, a professor of library and information science. There are 440 students and 24 teachers.

Jan. 02, 2024 - Exclusive Portal for the 38th Convocation of the University
For the 38th Convocation, the University Informatics Centre created a unique portal that offered digital admission cards to Ph.D. scholars and rank holders. By accessing the portal with their login credentials, the qualified candidates downloaded their admission cards. The online visitor pass for the public gallery was also included in the admit card. The site contained announcements, event details, and instructions for the candidates. This portal was used as the venue for the event's live streaming.
December 13, 2023 - Viksit Bharat @ 2047 - Awarness Programme for the University Students, Faculty and Staff
Viksit Bharat@2047 is the vision of the Government of India to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of its independence. The vision encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance. As India stands at this crucial juncture, poised to take off on its growth trajectory, it is important to realise that tremendous dedication and belief in India’s destiny, immense desire, potential, talent and capabilities of the Indians, especially the youth, coupled with steadfast leadership, is necessary to realise this potential. There is enormous work that needs to be undertaken in a mission mode to make India Viksit Bharat by 2047. For this to happen, there is a need to chalk out a bold, ambitious and transformative agenda, and its communication to all stakeholders. On December 13, 2023, in the university's convocation hall, Dr. B. Jeyapragash, the Nodal Officer for the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 Programme at Bharathidasan University, conducted an awareness programme for the faculty, staff, and students. Over 600 students from the Palkalaiperur Campus's various departments attended the event. An exclusive web page has been created to help the students and faculty to know all the details about this initiative.

August 29, 2023 & September 01, 2023 - Industrial Visit by Computer Science Graduates of Srimad Andavan College, Tiruchirappalli
The Undergraduate Students from Srimad Andavan College, Tiruchirappalli visited the University Informatics Centre to gain an insight about IT and Data center infrastructure, its racks and cabinets, power loads, types, design patterns, on premise vs cloud design, etc. Around 60 students visited the centre.
September 26, 2023 - G20 Connect - PM Webcast Live
The G20 University Connect Finale program was telecast live in the University Informatics Centre of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Around 200 students and 50 faculty members watched the live programme in which the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India addressed the gathering and released four publications related to G20 Summit in India. Prof. Dr. S. Srinivasaragavan, Controller of Examinations (i/c) and Dr. G. Gopinath, Director i/c, Informatics Centre briefed the students about the relevance of the program and interacted with the students. Prof. M. Selvam, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, watched the live programme from Chennai.

June 07, 2023 - Pensioner Portal - Inauguration
The Honble’ Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University Prof. M. Selvam has launched an exclusive portal for the pensioners of the University on 07/06/2023. This portal facilitates several functionalities for the pensioners to view and manage their monthly pension disbursement details and other pension-related activities from anywhere and anytime. The Registrar Dr. L. Ganesan and the Finance Officer Thiru. S. Karunanithi were present during this event. The Vice-Chancellor has initiated various e-Governance activities to develop a resilient technology infrastructure for the University and this is one such significant initiative for the benefit of the stakeholders. The portal also features relevant Government Orders, University circulars, notifications, and downloadable forms. This portal has been designed, developed and maintained by the University Informatics Centre. The has been extremely helpful for pensioners to know their pension status and for calculating their income tax. May 02, 2023 - Online Payment Verification Facility
In collaboration with the university's finance department, the university informatics Centre created and implemented a facility to verify the legitimacy of online payments made by students and institutions. Since its implementation on May 2, 2023, this facility has been utilized by all the sections and offices of the university.
May 05, 2023 - Inauguration of BDU Online Admissions with Choice Filling Facility for Univ. Department Regular Programs (2023-2024)
The online admissions for the regular programs offered by the University Departments begin on 05.05.2023 with an integrated payment portal. The portal provides all the information about admissions such as prospectus, entrance examination requirements, circulars, announcements, and details about the academic programs. The website offers a number of features, including user registration, sign-in, application submission with choice-filling options, uploading of certificates, online payment, and downloading of entrance examination hall-tickets, among others. Within a 35-day period, the portal got more than 4600 applications.
January 27-31, 2023 - 46th session of Indian Social Science Congress
From January 27 to January 31, 2023, at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, Bharathidasan University, in collaboration with the Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA), Allahabad, organised the 46th Session of the Indian Social Science Congress, with the theme "75 Years of Swaraj India." The event was well attended by a number of scientists, philosophers, intellectuals, social activists, policy planners, and those with an interest in many fields of study, including social science and science in general. To publicise the event and provide participants with the relevant information, the University Informatics Centre created a dedicated website.
Honourable Thiru R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, formally inaugurated the event from Rajbhavan, Chennai through online. Thiru. S. Madhavan and Thiru. V. Balasubramanian from the University Informatics Centre were assigned as nodal officers from Bharathidasan University to Rajbhavan, Chennai, in order to organise the online inauguration.
In the congress's "Information Technology, Mass Media, and Culture" thematic panel, Thiru. V. Balasubramanian and Thiru. R. Manimaran from the University Informatics Centre, presented a paper titled "Appropriate Integration of Immersive Technologies in Open Learning Platforms with a Special Emphasis on SWAYAM.".
December 27, 2022 - Inauguration of Online Admissions for Calendar Year (2023) - Centre for Distance and Online Education
University Informatics Centre has developed an intuitive Online Admission Portal for the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) for the calendar year admissions (January 2023). The Portal, https://oms.bdu.ac.in/cde-admissions was launched by Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Selvam on 27.12.2022, facilitates exclusive interface for all the Learner Support Centres (LSCs) and Personal Contact Programme (PCP) Centres. This initiative is the first step of the CDOE’s student-centric activities through online mode. Additionally, the portal also provides options for the students to register directly, log in to the Portal, choose their preferred Personal Contact Programme Centres (PCPs), select the Programme/Course and submit their application forms.
November 19, 2022 - Live Webcast of the 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' program from Varanasi
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ - a month-long programme organised in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on 19.11.2022. The objective of the programme is to celebrate, reaffirm and rediscover the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi – two of the country’s most important and ancient seats of learning.
Bharathidasan University arranged for viewing of the Live Streaming of the Programme on 19.11.2022 at 2.00 pm in the Video Conferencing Studio of the University’s Informatics Centre. Over 210 students from the University along with the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, faculty and staff viewed the live stream. The live streaming link was circulated to all the departments.
After the live stream was over, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. Selvam, interacted with the students. He highlighted the importance of this event and the significance of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Mission which has been one of the major focus areas of the Government guided by the vision of the Prime Minister. He also underlined the importance of actively participating in this month-long event aimed to bring together academic exchanges, seminars, discussions, etc. between experts and scholars on various aspects of these two ancient expressions of Indian culture, with focus on bringing forward the relationship and shared values between the Kashi and Tamil Nadu. September 20, 2022 - Bharathidasan University Alumni Portal - Launch
The Bharathidasan University Alumni Portal has been revamped with an intuitive design. The portal was launched on September 20, 2022 by the Honble’ Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University Prof. M. Selvam. The portal acts as a single source repository for managing the entire alumni data and to connect with them. The prime objective of this newly revamped portal is to establish a long term relationship between the alumni and the current students. Frequent interactions between the current students and the alumni have been beneficial to the university as it reduces the industry academic gap. To accomplish this, the portal provides many features for the alumni such as exchanging placement information, write memories and share career oriented knowledge. The portal also has a special feature for coordinating the donation and fundraising initiatives as several alumni have expressed their wish to contribute for the development of the Institution.

July 01, 2021 - Online Examinations
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University's Affiliated College Semester exams were administered online via the University Informatics Center's examination portal during the periods July 2021 and December 2021. On the day of the exam, students can download the question papers and post their response scripts through the site, which has all the elements required by the university's examination section to upload question papers online. The Bharathidasan University Department of Physics now has access to the expanded facilities.
Sepetember 27, 2021 - Cyber Security Awareness Training
On September 27, 2021, Thiru. V. Balasubramanian, Portal Developer of University Informatics Centre, served as Resource Person and gave an online lecture on "Zero Trust Security" for the 21-day Refresher Course in Computer Science & Applications, which was organised on by Bharathidasan University's UGC-Human Resource Development Centre.
November 22, 2021 - E-Content Cloud
During the COVID-19 lockdown period, Bharathidasan University launched an exclusive, unique, and “easy to use” ‘e-Content Development Cloud (EDC)’ (https://oms.bdu.ac.in/ec-colleges) on 11.05.2020 for the faculty members of the Affiliated Colleges to upload and share the e-contents and the students can view/download the digital study materials /e-contents to learn and prepare themselves for the semester examinations. More than 3,500 e-resources have been uploaded by faculty members for all the courses for even semesters (II, IV, and VI). This portal received a huge response from the faculty members and students of the affiliated colleges during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The University Informatics Centre (UIC) has received several requests from stakeholders for enhancing the facility of the e-contents for the courses of odd semesters (I, III, and V) of various degree programs offered by our university. To cater to their needs, the portal has been augmented with facilities to upload e-contents for the courses taught in the odd semester. December 09, 2021 - 37th Convocation
On December 9, 2021, Bharathidasan University hosted its 37th Convocation. The live streaming of the event has been rendered through YouTube online streaming media to simultaneously film and broadcast the entire event in real time. Over 4,000 people watched the live broadcast when it was put to the University Website's homepage via a weblink. More than 27,000 people have seen this convocation ceremony video. The technical infrastructure required for live streaming the event was made possible by the University Informatics Centre. Additionally, the centre made it possible for convocation attendees to download their convocation hall admission card from the university website using a new online feature.
February 2022, Student Satisfaction Survey
In February 2022, the university's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), administered an online student satisfaction survey to all enrolled students. A web based survey application was developed by the University Informatics Centre to administer the survey, analyse the results, and to provide the necessary reports.
February 16, 2022 - Hands-on Training on BDU LMS
On February 16 and 17, 2022, the University Informatics Centre and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) trained all of the university departments' faculty members on the new capabilities that had been added to the BDU Mobile / Web App (LMS). The Computer Centre served as the organising space for the practical training courses. Over a hundred academic staff members took part in the activity.
February 17, 2022 - Demonstration of the Pre-Examination Portal
In order to gain insight into the operation of the Pre-Examination Portal which has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and launched by the University Informatics Centre on February 17, 2022, the administrative and technical team from the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Madurai Kamaraj University, paid a visit to the University Informatics Centre. Dr. S. Srinivasa Ragavan, Controller of Examinations, along with Smt. Gowhar Jhon and Thiru. V. Balasubramanian, Portal Administrators, provided a live demonstration of the portal's features and functionalities.
April 04, 2022 - Student Feedback Session (April 2022)
From April 4, 2022 to April 20, 2022, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the University Informatics Centre organised a student feedback session for the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2021–2023. More than a thousand students submitted their feedback.
May 02, 2022 - Railnet Installation
In May 2022, the University developed a supplementary backbone, the RAILNET 100 Mbbps Internet connectivity, to provide continuous internet services throughout the campus. The University currently has a National Knowledge Network (NKN) link with a 1 Gbps Internet speed.
May 12, 2022 - Cyber Security Awareness - Training Programme
On May 12, 2022, the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), Cyber Security Architecture - Govt. of Tamil Nadu (CSA-TN), and ELCOT, Tamil Nadu, arranged the "Cyber Security Awareness Training Programme (Online)" for the entire technical team and the director of the University Informatics Centre.

September 2020, Cloud-based Online Exam. Platform
Bharathidasan University launched a cloud-based online platform, a first-of-its-kind initiative to facilitate the semester examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic period. In September 2020, around 58,000 students (UG, PG, and diploma holders from affiliated colleges and Centre for Distance and Online Education) showed up for the end-semester exams. The Online Examinations Portal was deployed in the Microsoft AZURE Cloud Computing platform to guarantee 100% availability and uninterrupted service for the students to download question papers and upload written answer scripts. The platform ramps down the use of servers and other resources once the examination is finished, only using its maximum capacity during the actual examination procedure. In order to accommodate more students attempting to access the BDU Online Examinations Portal, the platform was equipped with an auto scale feature. The software load balancer incorporated within the cloud architecture controlled website and portal traffic as well as security.
Sep. 2020 - Oct. 2020, Onscreen Evaluation System
The Central Computing Laboratory of the University Informatics Centre was designated as the Central Valuation Unit for the Online Evaluation Process. Owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, the exams were administered virtually, and students from the affiliated colleges uploaded their written answer scripts through the online examination portal. The University Informatics Centre developed and implemented a web-based On-screen Evaluation System (BDU-OES) to assess over one million digitally submitted scripts. The Office of the Controller of Examinations assigned Thiru. A. Arokiaraj and Thiru. R. Padmanaban from the University Informatics Centre to oversee the Onscreen Evaluation Process. The Centre complied with all government-recommended standard operating procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 prevention and control.
November 16, 2020 - BDU Hostel Management System (BDU HMS)
The University Informatics Centre in association with Central Hostel Office of Bharathidasan University launched BDU Hostel Management System (BDU HMS), a dedicated web portal for the university's hostel students, on November 16, 2020. A uniform interface is facilitated through this web-based Hostel Management System (BDU HMS) for handling several hostel management procedures, including room assignment, payment of the mess bill, refunding of the caution deposit, and applications for new admission or renewal. In portal has a simple intuitive user interface to simplify the process of hostel admission (fresh and renewal). Ever since the portal went live for the 2020–2021 academic year, more than 1,500 students are applying and obtaining hostel accommodation every year. In the past, applicants had to physically fill out the application and submit bring it to the hostel office in person. The entire process has been redesigned using this web application, and many of the obstacles from the previous one, such as collecting application printing fee and delay in manually processing the application have been eliminated.
February 15, 2021 - Online Ph.D. Qualification Examination
Ph.D. aspirants can apply to more than 40 different disciplines at Bharathidasan University for Ph.D. enrolment by taking the qualifying examination, which is administered twice a year by the office of the Controller of Examinations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exam was administered as a proctored online exam on February 15, 2021. Since then the examination has always been performed online (twice a year). The University Informatics Centre has served as the Nodal Centre for providing the necessary technical infrastructure for the online proctoring procedure, with over 3,000 students taking the exam.
February 26, 2021 - International Mother Language Day Celebration
Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli and Desisya Chinthanai Kazhagam jointly organized the Online Celebration of ‘International Mother Language Day’. In the function held at the University Informatics Centre’s Video Conferencing Studio on 26.02.2021, respectful Dr. (Tmt.) TAMILISAI SOUNDARARAJAN, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana State, Hyderabad & Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Puducherry Union Territory, Puducherry delivered the special address. Dr. M. Selvam, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli delivered the welcome address and presidential address. Thiru. Ma. Ko. Chi. Rajendran, the State Organizing Secretary of Desiya Chinthanai Kazhagam, Chennai delivered the Felicitation address. Dr. A. Tamilselvan, Professor, Department of Mathematics (Tamil), Dr. Y. Srinivasa Rao, Associate Professor, Dept. of History, BDU (Telugu), Ms. Gayathri Kurup, Ph.D Researcher, Department of English, BDU (Malayalam) and Ms. Rufin Mangali, Ph.D Researcher, Department of Chemistry, BDU (Kannada) delivered the thematic address. Dr. A. Lakshmi Prabha, Head, Department of Botany, delivered the vote of thanks. Faculty members, Officials from the University and Students from all the departments joined the online meeting through Google Meet and YouTube Streaming.

September 2019 - Launch of the Pre-Examination Monitoring System for Examination Section
University Informatics Centre of Bharathidasan University in collaboration with the National Informatics Center (NIC), Chennai has deployed a web-based Pre-Examination Monitoring Portal http://exams1.bdu.ac.in for managing the information about the students studying in the non-autonomous colleges affiliated to Bharathidasan University. With the help of this software the details about the courses taught in the colleges, the number of students enrolled in them, details about each student etc. can be obtained and stored online. The application became live from September 2019. This web application enables students to submit their exam applications easily without errors. Semester Examination Hall Tickets are provided instantly. Additionally, this application serves as a single point of contact for internal, practical, and viva-voce exam marks, attendance of students, faculty information, etc. With the assistance of the National Informatics Centre, Bharathidasan University became the first non-technical state university to implement a web application of this type.
December 12, 2019 - Industrial Visit
On December 12, 2019, students from Bishop Heber College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli's Department of Economics paid a visit to the University Informatics Centre to learn more about the institution's information technology infrastructure. The staff at the Informatics Centre gave the students an explanation of the network configuration, databases, video conferencing capabilities, and server infrastructure.
March 2016 - Technical Expertise
In recognition of our University Informatics Centre, the following individuals were assigned to the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Chennai – 600 025 from October 14, 2019 to October 18, 2019 and from March 16, 2020 to March 24, 2020: Mr. V. Balasubramanian, Portal Developer, University Informatics Centre; and Dr. K. Muthuramalingam, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Bharathidasan University. These individuals provided technical expertise to the Online Counselling Software Development Work for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2020).
May 11-12, 2020 - BDU E-Content Cloud
For the first time ever, Bharathidasan University organised a region-specific webinar on May 11 and 12, 2020, for the principals and faculty members of the affiliated colleges. The purpose of the webinar was to raise awareness about online virtual classes and the development of e-content. Following directives from the Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of Higher Education, Tamil Nadu, the University has prepared the required "Digital initiatives" to encourage e-learning for the benefit of students. This served as inspiration for the university to create the e-Content Development Cloud (EDC), a special, one-of-a-kind, and "easy to use" platform where college teachers can upload and distribute electronic materials to students, who can then view, download, and study the materials in order to get ready for exams from their homes. This would serve as the university's permanent "e-Content repository" for students both during and after the lock down. This home-grown web application has been developed internally by the University Informatics Centre of Bharathidasan University contains 3,800+ electronic resources.
From May 2020 to July 2021 - IT Infrastructure Support Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic, along with national lockdowns and social distancing rules, inevitably led to a spike in the usage of digital technologies. The University Informatics Centre emerged as the hub for providing the necessary IT infrastructure to enable unhindered academic and administrative operations. This entailed a raise in the use of information systems and networks as 58 Online Events (Meetings, Webinars, Demo Sessions, Conferences, PhD Viva-Voce Examinations, Project Proposal Presentations, Online Functions, etc.) were organized in the University Informatics Centre’s Video Conferencing Studio within a span of one and a half months’ time (May 11, 2020 - June 29, 2020). Furthermore, all of the programmes (Faculty Induction, Refresher, Orientation, and Short-term Courses) of the BDU's Human Resource Development Centre are being organised with the support of the University Informatics Centre by creating multiple user accounts utilising the BDU's Google Workspace.
April 2019 - Covid-19 Information Portal
An exclusive portal has been created to give stakeholders information on the following topics during the COVID-19 Lockdown period:
a) Important notifications to students about the postponement of classes, exams, and other academic events. During this COVID-19 lockdown, the portal is being used as a digital platform to communicate with the students and to make them stress-free.
b) The portal displays all of the COVID-19-related circulars and notifications that the MHRD, UGC, and TN Government have released.
c) During this COVID-19 Lockdown phase, the university deputed two counsellors to oversee the mental health of staff and students. The website lists the university-appointed counsellors' helpline numbers and email addresses. These two counsellors handled student concerns about their mental health and psychosocial challenges.
d) The COVID-19 portal of our institution has the Dos and Don'ts, Information Pamphlets with Preventive Measures concerning COVID-19, and information about the IVRS COVID-19 System built by the Tamil Nadu Government displayed. The website provides details about the AarogyaSetu mobile application.
e) The webpage included MOOC e-learning resources, a list of online meeting lecturing tools, and a demonstration of how to use these tools (Google Meet, Google Classes, etc.). Additionally, information about the numerous ICT projects by MHRD and information resources from the University Library is available on the COVID-19 site to promote students' academic enrichment throughout this lockdown period.
