School of Computer Science, Engineering & Applications
The School of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications is officially commissioned in July, 2005. It has grown phenomenally within very short span of 8 years as the largest School in the University. The growth is also possible due to committed faculty members who put every bit of their souls towards establishing this facility into one of the country’s best. The total number of students studying in this School is almost closer to 500 under various programmes.

Department of Computer Science and Applications has been established in the Academic year 2005-2006. This department is an integral part of School of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications and is located in City Campus at Khajamalai. The Computer Science field is one of the fastest growing and highest paying career paths in the world. The main objective of the department is to produce worldwide competitive, highly skilled, socially responsible Computer Science graduates who can work in highly challenging technology and ever dynamic industry besides research and development.
The Department has conducive infrastructure for carrying out cutting edge research in Computer Science related domains. The curriculum is carefully crafted to meet the current trends and upcoming technologies with the help of experts who meet almost every year for review the syllabus dynamically. The library houses around 3700 volumes of books augmented by a digital library of hundred plus e-books. Being the member of professional bodies like IEEE and ACM, we receive journals and magazines periodically. The thrust research areas of the faculty members include Semantic Web, Machine Learning. AI, Ontology, QoS, Networks, Bio-Informatics, etc. We offer research programmes leading to PhD in both Science and Engineering streams. As an innovation, the Bharathidasan University Technology Park (BUTP) is an integral part of School, established in 2005 for fostering IT culture in tier-2 city of Tiruchirappalli, which stands persistently as a unique proof for the true Industry-Institute-Interaction.

Department of Computer Engineering and Technology has been established in the Academic year 2008-2009. This department is an integral part of School of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications and is located in City campus at Khajamalai. The department imparts world class training and platform for research to the students. The department provides state-of-the-art computing facilities to the students enabling them to stay a step ahead. They are exposed to various opportunities in-plant training, internships and workshops during their course of study. The department encourages innovative projects and quality research in various interrelated domains. The Department actively involved in sponsored research projects.
