Research Papers / Books / Ph.D.
The faculty members involve themselves in contributing to the literature and discussions by publishing and presenting research papers in various academic journals and forums. The total number of publications in journals and books by faculty members exceeds 300 and presentations in academic forums exceed 500. The Department has produced 37 Ph.D.s in various fields of Economics.
Fellowships / Distinguished Positions
The faculty members of the Department have been exemplary in their academic and administrative activities, which have earned them many distinctions in the respective fields – Academic distinctions like Fulbright Fellowship, Best Teacher Award and other fellowships; and Administrative distinctions like Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Directorate and other administrative positions.
UGC – Special Assistance Programme (SAP)
In 2007 the Department was sanctioned with the UGC-SAP with an initial allotment of Rs.20 lakhs for a period of 5 years (2007-2012) to carry out research work. Thrust area for the research work was identified as Natural and Human Resources Mapping and field work is progress in this direction.
Status of Alumni
The Department has produced many scholars who are now working in the international, national and state level research institutions. Many of the alumni are working as principals and teachers in colleges. Some of them also work as leaders in different social, administrative and political agencies/organizations at different levels working with the people closely and helping them directly.
